Snow condtions in the Bighorns continue to present multiple challenges for our course team. Alternate courses are being explored and prepared for this year's event. Because we would like this year's race to be as safe, enjoyable and challenging as possible, we must continue to explore all of the options. Mother nature continues to call the shots. The alternate courses chosen for each distance are as true to the originals as possible. We thank you for your patience and hope that you all have faith that the Bighorn Trail Run 2011 will be as "wild and scenic" as you've come to expect from us.
The maps that follow are approximate in distances and are subject to change at the last minute! Please keep checking the website for changes! Aid stations may be more limited in supplies, please carry food and water with you at all times. The course will be quite muddy this year! Make sure you pack extra socks and shoes! Dry Fork access by bus and crew remains tentative at this time. We expect to be able to reach Dry Fork for the start of the 50M and the 30K. However, if Dry Fork is not accessible by bus, the alternates for the 50M and the 30K will start at Twin Buttes. THE 100M WILL START AT SCOTT PARK IN DAYTON AT 10:00AM (this is a new start time!!). THE 50M WILL START AT DRY FORK (PENDING ACCESS TO DRY FORK BY BUS) AT 6:00AM. THE 50K START HAS CHANGED TO THE HEAD OF DRY FORK AT 8:00AM. THE 30K WILL START AT DRY FORK (PENDING ACCESS TO DRY FORK BY BUS ) AT 10:00AM. CUTOFF TIMES AND AID STATION DISTANCES ARE ALSO POSTED BELOW. CONTINGENCY RACE PACKETS HAVE BEEN PREPARED AND ARE ALSO POSTED BELOW. PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE FREQUENTLY FOR ANY FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS OR CHANGES! If you downloaded the Contingency Checkpoints or Contingency Race Packets before 6/15 at 1:50am, some changes have been made. Please re-print them or wait until Thursday at registration to pick up a finalized version. WE ARE STILL DETERMINING CUTOFF TIMES. THE CUTOFF TIMES ON THE CONTINGENCY CHECKPOINT CHARTS ARE TENTATIVE! If changes are made to the cutoff times they will be lengthened, not shortened. There was a glitch on the contingency course maps saying that the races started in Parkman. The glitch has been fixed. The starts and their locations are listed above and now correctly on the maps. Registration on Thursday will have all finalized changes major and minor. The 100M Pre-Race Briefing will be in Scott Park, Friday June 17th at 8:30am.
THE 50K START HAS CHANGED TO THE HEAD OF DRY. YOU WILL START AT DRY FORK PROCEED DOWN THE DRAINGAGE INTO COW CAMP, PROCEED WEST TO STOCK TANK WHERE YOU WILL TURN AROUND. YOU WILL THEN FOLLOW THE SAME ROUTE ON THE CONTINGENCY MAP. THE ONLY CHANGES TO THIS DISTANCE ARE THE START POINT AND THE TURNAROUND POINT. STARTING AT DRY FORK AND TURNING AROUND AT STOCK TANK. THE MAPS WILL NOT BE UPDATED DUE TO SHORT NOTICE. THANK YOU.
